Question: Why should practices measure providers’ performance?

Dr. Pawlson: At this point, a lot of practices are measuring or are trying to measure provider performance. The problem is measurement is often not specialty specific, it isn’t personalized, and it often is way out-of-date.

Physicians are starting to feel that they’re over-measured, but the real issue is, you want measurement so you know where you are, and you know where you need to go.
