Christopher H. Tashjian, MD, FAAFP

Dr. Christopher H. Tashjian’s love for the world of technology is paralleled only by his passion for his patient’s health. He’s successfully integrated the two by spearheading Vibrant Health Family Clinic’s meaningful use of the Electronic Medical Record. Consumer Reports has reported his clinic #1 in Western Wisconsin for quality and value in diabetes and heart care. This has been attributed in part to the implementation of a state-of-the-art EMR system allowing direct access to patient data, changing the management of chronic disease from reactive to proactive. Dr. Tashjian is currently a Health IT Fellow using the EHR and practice innovations to increase participation in the Million Hearts Initiative and improve performance on the Million Hearts goal. By empowering everyone in the clinic to contribute to quality care the Ellsworth Medical Clinic was the only clinic in the nation awarded Hypertension Control Champions two years in a row by the CDC and Million Hearts Program. His clinic, along with Metastar QIO, is working actively to share their processes with other primary care clinics around the country.

Dr. Tashjian is a thought leader and is active in setting policy for the medical community. He is currently on the Scientific Advisory Board of the National Forum for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention and the Medical Advisor to Metastar, Wisconsin’s QIO. He serves on the Board of Directors of HealthPartners Inc. where he is Co-Chair of the Medical Board of Governors and Chair of the Health Transformation Committee. In addition, Dr. Tashjian is Chair of the Constellation and MMIC Mutual MPL insurance Board.

Dr. Tashjian is Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Practice and is the former Chief of Staff for the River Falls Area Hospital—a regional facility of Allina Hospitals. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. Special medical interests include EMR, public health, emergency medicine, quality care & measurement, and physician leadership.
