PETER C. LEPORT, M.D.
Dr. Peter LePort is a general surgeon and more than 25 years of experience doing gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and laparoscopic adjustable band, as well as general surgery procedures.
Dr. LePort, having performed more than 3000 bariatric procedures, has helped thousands of people regain control of their lives through surgical weight loss. He received a medical degree and completed his surgical training, including bariatric and surgical oncology, in Brooklyn, New York, at Downstate Medical College. Dr. LePort also served as an assistant professor at Downstate for two years prior to moving to California.
In 1985, Dr. LePort started the Lite & Smart DIMENSIONS™ program in California, which has performed more than 12,000 procedures and has helped his obese patients lose significant weight and regain control of their lives. He felt that he had a special responsibility to improve the health and wellbeing of morbidly obese patients with his exceptional skills as a gastric bypass surgeon.
In 2001, when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the LAP-BAND® System for use in the United States, Dr. LePort included a LAP-BAND® System to better serve his Orange County and Los Angeles patients and his ever-growing retinue of patients from throughout the United States and the world.
Dr. LePort is currently a faculty member of the American College of Surgeons and of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS). He is Chairman of the Board of a Surgical Center in Orange County, CA and is also a board member of the Ayn Rand Institute in Irvine, CA.
Dr. LePort owns and operates six pre and elementary schools in Orange County, CA called LePort Schools. He developed a passion for education, especially of children, while in medical school. In April 2000, he made his dream of starting an educational system come true.
