M. Stacia Dearmin, MD, FAAP

Stacia Dearmin, MD, FAAP has been practicing and teaching clinical medicine for over two decades. She is a nationally-known speaker, writer and consultant focused on helping physicians and medical professionals cope with the psychological and legal implications of adverse patient outcomes. She assists clients with preparing for depositions, giving courtroom testimony and navigating the entire process from adverse outcome to legal and personal resolution.

Stacia has 23 years of experience in pediatrics and emergency medicine. She was most recently staff physician in the division of emergency services at Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio. Prior to that, she served at Hillcrest Hospital/TeamHealth/Cleveland Clinic Health System in the pediatric emergency department as a staff physician and then as assistant medical director. As a consultant, Stacia founded Thrive: Insight, Education, Support LLC where she serves as a coach and speaker, focusing on supporting physicians and other healthcare professionals facing unexpected adverse outcomes and malpractice litigation.

A writer and teacher, Stacia speaks often on the topic of physician and healer well-being during and after litigation involving adverse patient outcomes. She also serves as a consultant developing pediatric clinical content for Change Healthcare, a division of McKesson Health Solutions. She has also developed Continuing Medical Education course on navigating emergency pediatric medicine to avoid preventable patient harm. As a teacher, she has been appointed as clinical assistant professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University and Ohio University, and as a clinical instructor at Case Western Reserve University.

Stacia completed her pediatric residency at Akron Children’s Hospital and her M.D. at Case Western Reserve University. She also has a Master of Theological Studies degree from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. from Oberlin College.
